January 11 is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day and Wear Blue Day
This Friday, January 11 is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. As BSA/AML officers, an important part of your job is detecting and reporting human trafficking through financial crime. To raise more awareness around this important day and the horrific crime, the Department of Homeland Security launched #WearBlueDay asking people to show support by wearing a blue article of clothing — a blue shirt, shoes, jacket, tie, hat, socks, dress, etc. Join us this Friday in wearing blue and posting a photo of you, your family or your staff on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) with the hashtag #WearBlueDay.
National Human Trafficking Awareness Day shines light on a crime that affects every single community across the US and across the world. It is a problem that spreads into our communities without us noticing. Here is a very informative infographic the DHS put together to showcase the huge problem that still exists with human trafficking and what you can do to stop it.
Follow the DHS campaign on Twitter @DHSBlueCampaign for more information on #WearBlueDay and National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.
