QAR™ allows the reporter of the Questionable Activity and the back office staff to communicate securely, so that anyone may report on any type of transaction or person, including other employees of the organization. Questions can be asked back and forth, and history is automatically added to the case created to ensure a strong audit trail.
Putting QAR™ Into Action
Questionable Activity Reporting™ is a web-based module that integrates with the BAM™ solution from Banker’s Toolbox.™ QAR™ provides a quick and efficient method of communication between a branch office or department and your central compliance/fraud department, allowing initiation and follow-up on the reporting of suspicious activity.
QAR Step-by-Step
View Current QARs
Upon entering the QAR™ module, a list of current Questionable Activity Reports is presented, along with their color-coded status. When viewed from a particular branch office, only the reports entered by that branch are displayed.
Customer Search
Searches can be based on partial names or addresses, account number, TIN, etc. When the accounts are displayed, it is easy to drill down and obtain further information about each account.
View Account Details
Once an account is selected, QAR™ shows all related activities, including recent cash activity, wire transfers, ACH/ATM transactions and CTR information. From this, the staff member can determine whether there is sufficient reason to file a QAR.
Create a QAR
If suspicious activity is identified, a click of a mouse button will bring up the “Create QAR” screen, with customer data already filled in. Simply complete any missing areas and add a commentary note about what aspect of the transaction is suspicious. Then click the “Submit” button to send the QAR to be reviewed by the back office in BAM.™
SAR Evaluation
In BAM,™ incoming QARs are identified with a “Submitted” note and can be quickly reviewed by the back office. If the back office has any questions, they can be entered directly into the report form and electronically sent back to the branch, where they appear in red on the QAR™ module screen. The questions can be answered and routed to the back office again by clicking the “Submit” button. Every communication is tracked to ensure a strong audit trail.
Close a QAR
After sufficient research is conducted, the back office decides whether or not this questionable activity warrants a Suspicious Activity Report. Once the back office completes the investigation, they change the status of the QAR to “Closed.” This notifies the reporting branch that there is no further action necessary, without revealing sensitive information as to whether or not a report was filed.
